Heat-treated ash cutting board 25×18cm – Contemporary design, cheese & aperitif

A brown that is not a stain

The ash is heated to between 160 and 230 °C under steam for two to four days. The heat transforms the fibre: the wood becomes more stable, resists moisture better and takes on a chocolate colour right through its thickness. A scratch stays brown, where a stained wood would show the pale wood underneath.

The right size for entertaining

Big enough for a cheese board for two or an aperitif spread, small enough to stay within reach on the worktop. The brown of the ash brings out the colours of fruit, cheese and charcuterie.

A light and dark pair

The same size comes in solid oak, a bright blond: side by side, the two boards make a contrasting set.

Care

By hand, in warm soapy water, with no dishwasher and no soaking. Dry straight away, then let it dry standing on its edge. About once a month, a thin coat of wood-care oil for kitchen boards or food-grade paraffin oil keeps all the depth of the ash. More tips in our care guide.
